Whalers Rest South Beach OR- Thousand Trails 10-3 thru 10-6-2018
We head to Oregon RV repair and met Andrew, right off the bat he gave us confidence that we were in good hands and he can get it done. Andrew points out that the awning was too long to start with and he would order the correct size, he also will get the caps that came off repainted and mail to us in Texas. Andrew sends his guy out to pick up the parts and they arrive later in the afternoon. It’s hard to find anyone in the RV business that will work on your RV same day. We pull out the awning and see its too long and sends his guy back for a shorter size, it arrives and he is running between many other customers and us but gets it done, we are happy and hit the road for the beach.
Whaler Rest in South Beach OR. Our first trip was to the Oregon coast, Whalers Rest just south of Newport where we will meet our kids and grandkids. We arrived at night and got lost just finding the camp site, once we found the front gate the Ranger was very accommodating but said we were to wait at the gate as the area where our space was they were having a medical emergency and needed to wait for the ambulance to leave. We headed to the space and all the lights were out in the other RV’s so drove in with our parking lights only, it was very tight and did our best to avoid hitting anything, did I mention it was tight! The ranger said she would put a reserved cone in our space which we found but the number did not match what she said earlier but no other spaces available so we backed in, the space barely accommodated our RV, I just plugged power in and called it a night. The next day we walked the RV park for the best spot, found one nestled in the trees, it was sunny and bright that day and looking forward to the kids arriving. Across the Hwy was Lost Creek Park. Setting up camp which included bring out our Trager Grill (Bronson) which fits nicely in the storage space of the RV, minus the legs as our RV has a pull out stainless table that it fits on. We heard a storm was coming the next day and they were correct it rained and blew for the next day & half, in door swimming pool here we come. Appetites are always inspired on the coast, we wanted some seafood so we travelled into town to our favorite fish market South Beach Fish Market, We did eat out one night at Cafe Mundo, (NowClosed), it was excellent as well. We woke up Saturday morning with no hot water and the plan was to leave for Portland to meet Mackenzie at her house where the Mini Cooper was parked. One more thing to add to the list of product failures on the RV, we did leave under sunny skies and a stop at South Beach Park.
