Enverness FL 1-31-2019, 2-1-2019

We are heading to our friends house of Gavin & Alverne’s in Inverness Florida today, they are the parents of Terri & Jamie’s who live in Alaska who we have known for over 30 years. Inverness FL is rated one of the best places to live in the USA and we are anxious to see it. Gavin & Alverne have been Floridians most of their lives and can’t wait to see them. When we arrive, we are met with open arms and Gavin waves us into his yard, we disconnect the Mini and park in his front yard on his grass, he hopes we will kill it so he won’t have to mow it. After getting caught up they tell us they have a favorite place for seafood in Crystal River Florida, called Charlies Fishouse & Market, we know this will be good as the Storters have been close the sea shore all their lives. Crystal River FL is famous for of course the clear water and lots of sea life to include the manatees. The restaurant is on the water with their fishing boats tied up next to it, talk about farm to table, it does not get any fresher than this and if you want to take some home, they have a market next door. I love oysters so having fried oysters was an easy choice, they were delicious. The next day Gavin took us to a State Forest Holder Mine Campground where he works part time checking in hunters’ game they have shot; they have to check in with him to verify what they have and weigh it. Next our friends and tour guides take us down the road to Floral City where the famous Ferris Citrus stand is, don’t go there hungry. The roads in this historic town are tree lined with limbs touching each other giving you a leafy umbrella. We head back to Inverness for some lunch at another favorite place of the Storters The Pine Street Pub. We are encouraged to have the flat bread and ordered 4 different kinds so we could share, they were excellent plus we could not leave without some their famous Bread Pudding, it was another share thing, Oh My Goodness. We get back to their home and prepare to head out to Rainbow Springs FL.
