Waking up to over cast skies but still warm and humid we are ready for a bite to eat, Yelp points us down the street to the Beach Diner, we walk there and from the outside it looks like its home-grown restaurant. Upon entering we are embraced by a friendly staff who you can tell have being working here for a while. We are seated immediately and can tell by the plates going by us that they serve large portions. I had not had a big breakfast for a while so I decide to get eggs, bacon, biscuits, and fried potatoes, I was not disappointed. We walk back to the RV and prepare for our next destination Savanah, GA and the RV Park called Rivers End. We will be leaving Florida soon and moving up the Georgia coast on old Hwy 17, this Hwy takes you back as late as the1890 with remints of buildings and business’s that flourished on what was then a major thorough fare. You could see each building had a story and you wondered when it stopped. Every community no matter how small has a church and sometimes nothing else. As we go over the bridge spanning the St Mary’s River that divides Florida from Georgia, believe it or not you get a very different sense of where you are that gradually grows more the deeper you get in to Georgia, or any state for that matter. Almost every state has its differences in topography and culture especially driving along the back roads, you can just feel it. We stop at the Georgia Rail Trail and shoot a few pictures of the general store (historic), look at that Coca-Cola sign. I don’t know if you are familiar with these Rail Trails but they are all over the USA and many foreign countries, what a great idea to take defunct rail systems and give them back to the public to enjoy. These trails go through some of the most beautiful and historic places across the country. Go to Alltrails for more information. As we cruise down this interesting Hwy we did not come to the largest ball of twine but we did find the Smallest Church in America. Angela was fascinated so, we took the self-directed tour of about 3 minutes. After many miles of country road we knew we were getting close to a city as Piggly Wiggly came in to view. Our destination was the Savanah, GA area and an island called Tybee where the Rivers End RV park was waiting us. To be practical we had to switch to Hwy 95 to get through Savanah and head east to Tybee Island. We are going to make this our camp and then head out with the Mini to explore Savanah. Tybee Island is do east of Savanah about 17 miles and an Artsy tourist town. RV parks can really vary in amenities, cleanliness and the way they are laid out, this place is very nice, it is run by the city so it has high standards, we would highly recommend this place to stay.
