Albuquerque, NM is a sprawling metropolitan area but, has many national monuments with easy public access. This Morning our first stop is to the Petroglyph National Monument. We stop at the ranger station to get information on where to go. The closest one to us is Boca Negra Canyon, the parking lot is half full and the hill in front of us will be somewhat of a challenge due to its twisty rocky path. It is fascinating to see these petroglyphs that have been here for up to 3,000 years and are still visible today. Click on the link for more information. Another couple on the trail is doing a selfie we ask if they would like us to shoot a picture of them and in return they shoot a picture of us. We worked up an appetite and what better place for Mexican food than Albuquerque. Angela does a search and finds Papa Franks in down town, it’s not much from the outside or inside but, has a down home feeling. it’s warm enough to be outside and find their courtyard pleasant. I get the quesadilla lunch plate, $5.00 and Angela gets the rice & beans $3.00, not a bad lunch for under $10.00. I had been to Old Town Albuquerque before but wanted to show it to Angela. This place hasn’t changed much in 100 years. Most of it leans towards tourists, people are friendly and of course Angela seeks a coffee. The Blackbird Coffee fits the bill and Angela is pleased. Across the plaza is the famous and oldest churches in Albuquerque, San Felipe De Neri Church, as you walk in it gives you a sense of peace as it has for thousands of people throughout the many years that it’s been here. Lots of history here to include it being a Mexican territory back in 1706, the natives have been here for thousands of years but, Mexico claimed it. Its getting close to dinner time now and a steak sounds good so off we go to Texas Roadhouse and from the look of the waiting line the secret is out, we decided to sit at the bar and get served right away, we were very pleased with the service and the food.
