Getting ready for our Christmas day party at the club house, this RV park is very community oriented with all kinds of activities and Christmas Day is no different. It’s a potluck and there will be at least 60 of us participating. The park provides a huge turkey and ham everyone else brings the specialty, I do pork loin roasts with chimichurri sauce , wow that’s a plate full. Having these get togethers creates comradery and missing your family lessens. You have a opportunity to meet new people and hear about their life experiences. Many of these people have been coming here to the Emerald Beach Park RV and doing this for many years.

They usually have some kind of drawing for prizes and games or disk jockey for dancing after eating. We do not have the experience that a lot of them do Rving but they welcome us and always willing to help in any way they can.

We retire to our RV with our stomachs full to open our Christmas cards to each other. We had an agreement to not buy each other gifts as we have most everything we want and living in an RV makes you think about do we really need this during the decision process of buying. I have given Angela many gifts of jewelry over the years and she does not wear jewelry often but I got this in my head to find her something to remind her of our stay in Navarre FL. So a week before Christmas I was driving around town and saw this interesting cabin like store just off the main hwy called Saltwater Cottage . It was interesting in that it was truly something you would see on the sea shore and masterfully decorated from outside to inside. On one of my trips alone to get something in town I stopped by to see what they might have. It’s a small place full of all kinds of beautiful thoughtful sea shore gifts, I’m greeted by a smile and kind words, I respond with the typical I’m just appreciating your store. A display of bracelets catches my eye and reach for a closer look. They are made of round beads done in artsy kind of way, I questioned the sales person on what they were made of and what they meant, she responds with these are made here locally by an artist who strings the beads with meaning and the one you are looking at stands for the fruit of the spirit, this struck me immediately as Angela loves the story about the fruit of the spirit her mother Earlene would speak about this passage many times in her life. I purchase this beautiful bracelet and she gift wraps it with care. I returned home to hide it in the outside storage as Angela does not usually go there for anything as that’s my domain. So tonight, we exchange cards and then I bring out from behind my back this gift. Angela’s first response is DOUG! we said we were not going to buy gifts and after she views the box, she says this better not be jewelry, well you would think I would be sweating bullets by now about the gift but this was going to be a very special one. The gift was opened and at first Angela was unsure, it probably would not be a bracelet she would pick out but inside the box it had the story of the fruits of the spirit and it melted her heart.
