Emerald Cove CA 3-4-2020
Love waking up to the warm sun, our walk this morning will take us to the restaurant and pool that is centrally located in the park. It’s the social area for everyone to gather, eat, drink and occasionally do water volley ball. Even early this morning there are the early risers doing activities. They offer an inexpensive breakfast at the activity hall this morning; eggs, sausage and a cinnamon roll for $3.99. There are volunteers serving the breakfast this morning that are always interested in the new comers and where we are from. It’s a pretty large park that extends from the river to the Parker Dam Hwy. Our walk takes us across the road to BLM land that has prominent road signs warning of wild burros in the area. We sneak through the fence on what looks like a well traveled path by a grove of trees that are being used by the burros to get out of the heat. The trail is rugged and up hill, not much of anything grows here except an occasional cactus flower. In the distance you can here the sound of ATV’s rumbling through the desert, another pastime of many down here. The hills were originally mined for gold but they are just holes in the side of the mountains today. The hike takes us along a ridge to a taller hill where the United States flag fly’s. We head back as the sun is starting to bake us. Most RV’ers are friendly and our neighbors are no different, they engage me in a conversation with; we read your story pointing at the decal on our RV that reads Tweedietravels.com. He says congratulations on beating cancer, I thank him, forgetting most days I even had cancer. They are from Washington and heading back today as the covid 19 virus is getting to be a bigger deal. We eat some lunch and head over to the office for our sales meeting, the people are friendly and send us down the hall to an office where a sales person in shorts and a t-shirt greets us. He asks a few questions and then gets right into the pitch, its all very interesting and probably would work for some RV’ers however we put on the brakes when thousands of dollars are talked about. He could see he was not going to close us so became abrupt and started filling out the paper to get us out. Angela became offended and spoke right up, starting off with; what kind of customer service is this when you could see we were not going to purchase your timeshare, you became angry and indignant. He was taken aback that this petite lady was arching her back, he finally apologized and gave us the gifts they offered and out the door we went.
