Riggins Idaho 9-5-2020

We are exploring today in our new playground, we heard you can drive up the mountain to Hells Canyon National Forest. Almost everyone here has an ATV and the police don’t care where you drive it, some of them are bigger than our Mini Cooper, we saw many of them on our way up the mountain. On our way up the mountain forestry road we found it to be steep and curvy, and when we reach the top there was the sign that reads Hells Canyon National Recreation Area. The views from here are spectacular and if you continue you would run into the Snake River. It took us so long to get to the top that we decided to head back down to find a restaurant for lunch. Back on the highway we find a restaurant but can tell its a truck stop and not Angela’s preference. So, off to the next town of Riggins Idaho (24 miles). Its a bustling little town this time of year, lots of tourist and activities. Its the hub for white water rafting and many other activities for southern Idaho. Angela does a search for restaurants and finds the Wilderness Eatery. It is a family run business and you can tell its been here for a while, that’s where I found those great rafting pictures. The food was good and the atmosphere entertaining. On our way back to White Bird we stopped at Old Lucile Recreation Area to watch the rafters come in after a hot, wet day on the river.
