Heading west towards Amarillo TX, the traffic is building and can’t wait to get by this busy place. As we get past Amarillo we spot the famous Cadillac Ranch, we head towards the next exit to turn around as it’s on the other side of the highway. It’s been raining and the shoulder of the road is soft so, when we go to park on the side of the road, the wheels sink in. Since we have dual wheels on the back, I’m not too concerned but Angela is. There are lots of people here and notice people have left trash but, we also notice responsible people are picking it up, we join in to do our share. Follow the link to get the history, pretty interesting. There are lots of windmills where ever we go in Texas, they have 25% of all windmills in the US. We pass the New Mexico state line and stop in Glen Rio for some lunch at Russell’s Travel Center, fancy name for a truck stop. This is a privately owned company and has a great story behind the owners, click the link for the whole story. This Travel Center has a museum to include classic cars, gift shop, restaurants, chapel, showers and more. As you can see, they are an Elvis fans (a distant cousin to Angela). After lunch, off we go to Santa Rosa NM to spend the night at Santa Rosa Campground .
