Wallowa OR 8-31-2020

We depart Wild Horse Casino early planning on getting to Wallowa RV Park in the early afternoon. Highway 84 is a steep climb out of the Pendleton area towards the Wallowa Mountains and Highway 82. The views are spectacular, I have an excitement building inside as I have always wanted to see this part of the country. As the saying goes enjoy how you get there, lots of mountains and rivers. Wallowa is a sleepy little town, it takes you back to earlier and slower times. Our RV park is delightful very small but our space is 25ft from the Wallowa River that was full of fish. We are anxious to get to  Joseph OR where Wallowa lake is. Hunger is beating at our door and we find this great restaurant called the Embers Brew House. I love burgers and tots, Angela went for a BLT, we were not disappointed. Chased it all down with a in house brew, fresh citrus raspberry, WOW!  The town of Joseph is an inviting place full of cute shops and a foundry that can create anything you want. The corners of the town each have a beautiful bronze statue depicting a person or thing of times past. On to Wallowa Lake a short drive away, the lake is one of those pristine high elevation bodies of water and as you can see from the water shot off the dock that is looking through 20 feet deep of water and very clear. We are in the Wallowa County Park which is at the north end of the lake. We continue down the side of the lake to the state park at the end which is large and has lots of campers, what a beautiful place.
