Middlebury IN 3-13-2019
We get out early wanting to get to the factory and get the work lined up. I have been in frequent contact with our representative at Coachmen, Jason, not only to coordinate what needs to be done but all the repairs that we had to do before we decided to drive all the way north to Indiana, in the middle of winter. As we head towards Middlebury IN you can see we are in Amish country. The Coachmen plant area is immense with acres of RV chassis and buildings, we call Jason and set up the work and the timing of when it will be done, the work will take days and our decision to drop of the RV and visit our family in Michigan we will work. The biggest reason we came to the factory was the finish on the cabinets, they were defective to start with and the company we bought the RV from made sound like getting it done at the factory would be the best choice. So besides replacing the cabinets we had another list of 5 things to complete. We have had over 30 problems with this new RV so, as I said before buy a newer used on that someone has worked out all the problems, we have discussed this many Rver’s and they all had similar problems just not as many. Coachmen has an onsite RV space with power so we hook up and head to Shipshewana IN, a suggested side trip by Jason. If you have not heard of Shipshewana its a step back in time where most of the traffic in town and the surrounding farms is horse and buggy. The town is set up for tourists with many hotels and shops showing off the beautiful craftsmanship of the Amish. We stop at the Red Barn which is a collection of Amish shapes to include an independent owned Carhartt store where we exchanged Carhartt stories. Across the hall is Wana Furniture store where you will find some of the best examples of Amish furniture making. Dollar stores are in almost every community including Shipshewana, see picture at the bottom of page.
